Delta Flight Flips Upside Down During Landing in Toronto, Passengers Survive

Towven.com – Toronto, ON – A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis experienced a dramatic landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday afternoon, flipping onto its roof upon touchdown.

Despite the shocking nature of the incident, all 80 passengers and crew members on board survived, though several sustained injuries. 

Delta Connection Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, a regional subsidiary of Delta, was attempting to land amidst challenging weather conditions, including blowing snow and gusty winds.

According to airport officials, the plane touched down around 2:15 PM EST and for reasons yet unknown, veered off course and flipped over.

“We are very grateful that there was no loss of life in this incident,” said Deborah Flint, CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, during a press conference. “Our focus is on the care and well-being of the passengers and crew.” 

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, extracting passengers from the overturned aircraft. Individuals were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Investigators will be examining various factors, including weather conditions, mechanical issues, and pilot error, to determine what led to the plane flipping over. 

This incident comes amidst concerns about the aging infrastructure at some airports and the increasing challenges posed by extreme weather events.

While a full investigation is pending, the safe survival of all passengers and crew serves as a testament to the safety standards and training protocols in place within the airline industry.

Delta Air Lines released a statement expressing their gratitude for the swift response of emergency personnel and their commitment to supporting those affected by the incident.

“Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted,” the statement read. The incident caused significant disruptions at Toronto Pearson International Airport, with numerous flights delayed or canceled.
