Born in Houston, Texas, in 1949, Foreman overcame a troubled youth to achieve boxing greatness. He gained international acclaim by winning a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics.

In 1973, he captured the heavyweight title by defeating Joe Frazier. Foreman is perhaps best remembered for his 1974 bout against Muhammad Ali in Zaire, known as the “Rumble in the Jungle,” where he suffered an eighth-round knockout.

After retiring in 1977 to become an ordained minister, Foreman made a remarkable comeback a decade later.

He was also a devout preacher and deeply committed to his family, fathering 12 children. Foreman’s life and career were immortalized in the 2023 biopic “Big George Foreman.”

He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan, and his children. The boxing community and fans worldwide mourn the loss of a true legend.
